About
I am an academic and artist based in Saddleworth, near Manchester in the UK. My research explores the ways in which artists engage with museum collections and heritage sites. This interest began to develop as a result of being an artist and also spending a long time working in museum and gallery education. This eventually prompted me to do a PhD (2010-2015) which examined the contemporary art programme at the Bronte Parsonage Museum and I have continued to explore this area of practice.
As an artist and printmaker, my own work is often based on an engagement in this context, in particular, historic sources such as ornamental design prints of the sixteenth and seventeenth century intended as source material for artists and sculptors.
